Capturing a deep sense of anxiety and the concealment of emotion, this piece is inspired by Taylor Swift’s “The Archer.” The pair of forms contain delicate tangled wire which represents the physical complexity of anxiety, and they curl in on themselves in an attempt to hide the conflict within. The small window on either side of the forms reveal the reality of their inner workings. My inspiration for the shape of the forms comes from hands reaching out towards each other, linked by a small connection that is constantly in motion.
“Dark side
I search for your dark side
But what if I’m all right, right, right, right here?”
“I’ve been the archer
I’ve been the prey”
“Can you see right through me?
They see right through me
They see right through me
I see right through me
I see right through me”
“Help me hold onto you”
